Seraphina's Awakening AND Seraphina's Initiation | Spoiler-Free Review

“This is it. All her training and preparation has come to this. This is her graduation, her initiation into being an Angel.”
Seraphina's Initiation

Hey everyone! Today I will be reviewing two books I have been posting about for months—Seraphina's Awakening and Seraphina's Initiation by Sheena Hurchinson! Let me just start off by saying that, just because it took me awhile to read each book, it was in no way because of the books' content or plot. My life has been absolutely crazy with work, my relationship, and getting ready for school.

I received the first book from the author as an Advanced Reader Copy and the second book for free in exchange for an honest review over both of them.

Goodreads Synopses:

Seraphina's Awakening:

For as long as she can remember, Seraphina Cross has experienced these visions that made her feel like there was more to life. It wasn’t until one moment, one accident that her life changed forever.

She awakens the next day a new person in more ways than one. With no recollection of past night’s events, she’s forced to adapt to certain sensations she is experiencing all while trying to piece together what exactly happened to her that fateful night.

Her strange, hectic life doesn’t seem to make sense until she meets a handsome stranger. Only then does the puzzle finally piece itself together. What she doesn’t expect is the new powers she has developed attracting all kinds of unwanted attention.

Thrown into a world she never truly believed existed she is forced to come to grips with who she is becoming while staying out of trouble long enough to figure out what needs to be done to fulfill her destiny.

Seraphina's Initiation:

Seraphina Cross is unexpectedly thrown into this crazy, spiritual world of Angels versus Demons.

Never did she expect to meet Nate who was just a figment of her imagination. Now she finds herself moving in with him because of her innate responsibility to protect her loved ones from harm.

Finally beginning to feel at home in her new house and with her new relationship. Nate begins training Sera in all that she can do, surprising even himself at times. Just when she is starting to feel safe and powerful, Lucifer finds a new way to attack her at her most vulnerable.

When her dreams are no longer a gift, can Sera control the powers needed to defeat what's coming before Lucifer fulfills his promise to her?

Quotes I Loved:

The quote at the beginning of this post (:

"No angel babies until after you save the world!" --Amanda, Seraphina's Initiation.

I honestly was too engrossed in these books to write down quotes that I liked. Oops.

Rating:

Though I LOVED these books, the editing job was not great (in no way Sheena's fault), and I found that the tense and point-of-view tended to change around. For that, I am giving the books 4.5 out of 5 stars. ****KEEP IN MIND THAT I HAD AN ARC COPY OF THE FIRST BOOK. FINAL EDITIONS MAY NOT HAVE HAD MISTAKES!****

Thoughts:

I absolutely love the religiously revolved Angels vs. Demons backdrop of this entire series. As a Christian, I love seeing authors not being afraid to use God in their books when describing angels, demons, etc. and it just makes me so happy! I would HIGHLY recommend this series for lovers of Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter Chronicles, anyone who loves action/adventure books, and even people who like romance books. Seraphina's character pretty much covers all the bases of normal human traits, and I love how three-dimensional her character is. Also, Nathanael is so freaking cute!
